Advanced Technology
AZ150 ALU-ZINC STEEL
Decra® has pioneered the use of alu-zinc steel. Nothing less than 150g of alu-zinc per square metre (known as AZ150) is acceptable, as only this amount can guarantee a 50 year performance, as prescribed by our market leading warranty.
Our Alu-zinc steel is further protected by an anti-fingerprint acrylic resin to protect the steel from handling during manufacture, transport and installation.
NATURAL VOLCANIC STONE
Decra® roofing tiles are coated with natural stone chips, volcanically formed and taken from quarries in New Zealand. These coatings add natural beauty to the roof and a hard layer of protection from the harsh African weather. Being of natural stone, the vibrant colour is protected against the extreme UV of the African sun and will never change.
ADVANCED BASECOAT
Since 1957 we have continually innovated and developed our technology so that today we lead the way in design, quality, performance and durability. Our natural stone chips are embedded deep in our own patented basecoat and sealed in a special acrylic resin to ensure they stay permanently fixed to the tile. The finished tiles are then baked in a 100m long oven to ensure durability.

Genuine Decra® is ONLY available through our network of Exclusive Distributors, where the quality of Decra® matched by superior service levels.
DECRA® LOGO
Genuine Decra® roof tiles have the Decra® logo printed on the back of the tile. When your roof tiles are delivered, check that they have this logo.
DECRA® APP
As a final check, enter the production code from the back of one of your tiles into the Decra® App. This will confirm instantly that your tiles are Genuine Decra®.
Beware of Fakes and Imitations
Make Sure it’s Genuine Decra
No other roof tile manufacturer matches Decra® for quality. We use the correct quality of raw materials to manufacture a tile that performs for at least 50 years.
Colour Fade
The most common problem with fake tiles is that they fade quickly. This occurs due to poor quality stone chip which is sometimes even painted. Fading can occur from as little as 3 months after installation.
Chip Loss
Using a cheap aftermarket basecoat to attach stone chip to the steel tile can result in heavy chip loss during manufacture, transport, installation and
during rainfall. This exposes the steel to an onset of rust.
Rust & Corrossion
Most suppliers will claim their tiles are alu-zinc steel. But how much alu-zinc is used? Using half the amount Decra® uses may cost less, but it reduces the lifespan of
the steel by two-thirds, and corrosion will soon begin to show.
Untrustworthy Supplier/Installer
While Decra® offers a 50-year written warranty, other suppliers may not be able to back their claims, and some even “disappear” when there’s a problem. Contractors instructed to use Decra® sometimes substitute to pocket the difference.

INSTALLER TRAINING – INVESTING IN AFRICA
Established by Decra® to improve the quality of installation and empower local installers, our Installer Program is one of Africa’s leading training courses. Supported by various national authorities, our installers are professionally trained and certified.
MAINTENANCE IS JUST A PERIODIC CLEAN
In most cases, rainfall washes the dust off the roof
making it look brand new after every shower. Aside from removing dead leaves, the only other maintenance a Decra® roof might require is a good wash every three to five years to help prevent the growth of algae, moss, and lichen – something that affects all roofs. This work can be undertaken by our Distributor’s recommended
contractors, though many homeowners carry out this task themselves.
